Kindergarten - 2nd Grade Expectations
Students are expected to complete daily tasks assigned by the teacher during the distance learning period. These tasks have been pre-printed in packets for all students in kindergarten through 2nd grade. In order to help support healthy and positive learning, we encourage students to do their best to maintain a daily schedule. However, please note that work is not expected to be completed in consecutive blocks. It is best to break up tasks and allow for breaks, play, and movement in order to support student learning. Teachers in each grade have a suggested schedule that will be communicated withyou or included in your students’ packet for when and how tasks can be completed. HCPA encourages all students tostart their distance learning by 8:00 a.m.
The following are expectations for Kindergarten through 2nd grade students:
● Start your school work at 8:00 a.m.
● Work on your packet of activities from your teacher.
● Finish the following work DAILY:- Reading
- Writing
- Math
- Your Daily Specialist Activity (Hmong Language, Art/Theater, P.E. or Science)
- You should expect up to four hours (4) of work each day.
● If you have a computer or tablet, teachers will also be posting online activities and videos for the areas above. Login to Schoology using your login information or QR code and look in the “Updates” in your College Prep(CP) course.
● Be responsible for work assigned.
● Connect with your teachers. Teachers will be available for 8 hours each day between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. Due to family responsibilities, their hours will vary. However, all teachers should be available for the duration of the student learning bell schedule (8:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.)3rd - 5th Grade Expectations
Students are expected to go online daily and complete the tasks assigned by the teacher. Kindergarten - 2nd Grade
Help to create a quiet spot within your home where students can work and learn.
Support students to finish their daily packet work.
If your student has access to technology, teachers will be posting optional additional activities and supports online to assist with lessons. To access these activities, do the following:● Support students to login to Schoology (www.schoology.com) using their QR code.
● Have students navigate to their College Prep Course and look for the assignments posted by their teacher in the “Updates.” Teachers will post activities each day.OR
● Login to Schoology through your parent access (https://hcpak12.schoology.com or the Schoology app)
● Click and select your elementary child from the upper right corner.
● Click on your child’s College Prep Course and look for the assignments posted by their teacher in the“Updates.”
Reach out to your child’s teacher regularly with any questions, comments, or concerns.3rd - 5th Grade

Kindergarten - 5th Grade Expectations

Teachers in K- 5 will post learning experiences and a welcome message for students by 8:00 a.m. each day in Schoology.
All K-5:
● Homeroom teachers will post a daily welcome (video, message, etc.) in the “Updates” section of their College Prep course. This should include the “agenda” for the day of the work that students should do.
K-2:
● Assignments/online links/etc. will be posted/uploaded to the College Prep course.
● Students will also be directed to their specialist page for their daily activity in either Hmong Language, Physical Education, Science, or Art/Theater.3-5:
● After posting the welcome to the page, teachers will refer students to their Math, Writing, and Reading course pages. This is where teachers will post separate assignments/distance learning activities. Other individuals in the school who may be collaborating to post modifications based on the students needs and abilities, resources, etc. for the subject or for specific students will also be able to post on this page.
● Students will also be directed to their specialist page for their daily activity in either Hmong Language, Physical Education, Science, or Art/Theater.As much as possible, routine feedback should be given by teachers through responding to Schoology discussion posts or FlipGrid posts, posting comments or suggestions in Google docs/sheets/slides, holding individual or group conferences, or posting videos to Schoology.
