HCPA Celebrates Annual World Culture Day
St. Paul, MN—Hmong College Prep Academy, a St. Paul-based K-12 charter school that provides Twin City students with a rigorous college prep curriculum, recently held their annual World Culture Day celebration--a morning of traditional and contemporary cultural music and dance.
“World Culture Day has turned into a longstanding tradition at HCPA,” stated Superintendent Dr. Christianna Hang. “Our staff feels it is important to know your own culture but also experience the traditions of others. This helps our students gain a global perspective as to how they fit in the world.”
This year, 20 acts composed of HCPA students and staff took part in World Culture Day festivities. Performances ranged from traditional Hmong and Chinese folk songs to KPOP, Thai and folk dancing demonstrations. The celebration also featured an international fashion show, songs from the HCPA choir & band (which opened the event with a stirring rendition of Sib Pab Ciaj Vaj) and a performance from the school’s drama students. An added highlight, Nrees Xiong, lead vocalist from regional recording artist Hands Band performed.
Since its inception, Hmong College Prep Academy has been providing its students with a well-rounded education in an environment that features individualized programs and small class sizes.
