Fall School Planning Update 7/31/2020
Dear HCPA Staff, Students, and Families,
Yesterday afternoon, Governor Walz, the Minnesota Department of Education and Minnesota Department of Health released new direction to Minnesota schools to guide how school resumes this fall. They also unveiled a new decision-making model for districts to use to determine their local approach for learning using 2-week rolling county infection rates and additional guidance for school districts to ensure a safe return to school. We understand and acknowledge the anxiety that many feel in understanding and making plans for both work and family, and are committed to ensuring the safety of our students and staff given the new guidelines presented to us.
The information we received yesterday differs from what we were provided previously to use in our planning. We will be taking the next few days to review the guidance and make necessary revisions to our plan. In the last few months, we have learned a lot about distance learning and are making necessary adjustments from feedback from parents, students, and staff to create more consistent staff and student support systems going forward.
We will continue to review all the facets of MDE’s guidance, and will provide additional details about our reopening plans with families and staff in the coming days
Thank you, once again, for your patience as we work with the various state offices to update our fall plans to ensure continuous learning and safety for students, staff, and our community. Please stay tuned for additional guidance on our website and our other communications channels.
